USA exceeds 500,000 deaths from covid-19 2:20
(CNN) -
It's been almost a year since the US recorded its first known death from COVID-19, at a long-term care facility in Washington state.
In hindsight, we would know that there were covid deaths in the country in early February and that the pandemic was already seeping into the population when we began to take drastic measures to stop it.
The United States now has a toll of half a million victims.
Comparisons that help put into context the number of deaths associated with this disease have gone from wars to several wars, small cities, large cities.

US surpasses 500,000 deaths from covid-19 at crucial moment
As we enter our second year with COVID-19, it is increasingly clear that it will take longer to get back to how life was in February 2020. There will be permanent changes in the way we interact, work, travel, eat and we learn.
Dr. Anthony Fauci said in March 2020 that "as a nation, we cannot be doing the kinds of things we were doing a few months ago."
Last Sunday he said we could wear masks in 2022.
Americans will wear face masks "possibly" until 2022 to protect against covid-19, says Fauci
When you find yourself wondering, as I often do, what we get in exchange for all the monumental and tiny ways we've changed our lives, consider the fact that there was something close to death from covid-19 of an American every minute during the course of this past lost year.
