The countdown has started to prevent the closure of a more than a century old factory in the Jura.
The government is trying to save at all costs the historic site of Jacob Delafon, the well-known brand of ceramic sanitary ware, which employs 150 people in Damparis.
Last September, its owner, the American group Kohler, which bought Jacob Delafon in 1986, announced its intention to sell the plant, judging that it was not profitable and did not fit with its strategy.
The group had however invested 7 million euros in 2015. But the decline in its market share in high-end ceramic sanitary ware convinced it to relocate their manufacture to Morocco, India and China, where the costs of labor are less and the volumes greater.
It also decided to close its small valve factory in Reims (29 employees).
