Investigation of the shooting incident in the Tevetz camp:

An IDF fighter from the 50th Battalion of the Nahal was fatally wounded last night (Tuesday) in a serious shooting incident that took place in a camp in the Jordan Valley.

According to the investigation, the fighter was hit by a Roger bullet, a weapon for dispersing demonstrations, which was apparently fired from a multiple where ranges had been used shortly before.

The investigation shows that a military force conducted a training session at the range in the Ruger bullets as part of preparations for operational employment in the Gaza Division.

At the end of the range, the platoon commander dismantled the soldiers' weapons and placed them near the company guard's post.

Later, one of the faculty members picked up one of the weapons, aiming for the space where the fighter was walking with another soldier, and at that point a bullet was apparently fired that hit the fighter's head, which collapsed and lost consciousness.

A paramedic and two paramedics rushed to the scene, provided primary medical care and prepared the wounded for evacuation.

At that time a helicopter was jumped, and the wounded man was taken to the hospital.

The IDF spokesman said this morning: "The incident is being investigated, and the investigating military police are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the incident, at the end of which the findings will be submitted to the military prosecutor's office for examination."

Lessons from the IDF investigation

1. A general detainee must be made - and the issue of location, control and handling of weapons and cameras must be clarified for all soldiers and commanders (including headquarters soldiers).

Execution of an orderly unloading as required by orders at the entrance to the camp - it must be ensured that battalion guards in the SG are instructed to ensure this unloading physically - including if it is necessary to remove the soldiers from the vehicle / bus.

3. All commanders must be sharpened - the procedures, commands and order of operations at the beginning and end of training.
