Orlando City's Jonathan Suarez arrested for sexual assault

Jonathan Suarez of Orlando City was arrested for sexually assaulting a woman in Osceola County within weeks of his arrival in MLS.


The Mexican-American defender, Jonathan Suárez-Cortés, was arrested Tuesday on charges of sexually assaulting a woman in Osceola County, Florida.

The player had been presented as the new reinforcement of Orlando City for the 2021 season of Major League Soccer, coming from Queretaro of Liga MX.

They are being held without bond.

The 24-year-old soccer player was arrested along with his brother, Rafael Suárez Jr,

after a woman filed a complaint for an alleged sexual assault last Sunday and after a series of investigations, Jonathan and Rafael Suárez were identified as the suspects, to then be arrested on Tuesday night,

without the possibility of being released on bail.

“Late Tuesday night, Orlando City SC learned that defender Jonathan Suarez was arrested in Osceola County.

The club takes these allegations very seriously and is currently collecting more information.

The club will not provide further comment until the further investigation of the alleged incident is completed, ”a team spokesperson told the Orlando Sentinel.

Suárez-Cortés was born in Anaheim, California and trained at Fontana High School, later arriving in Mexican soccer,

where he participated with the Cimarrones, Querétaro and Pumas teams, before being loaned to the MLS team for the 2021 season. .
