An important German group, which for the moment wants to keep its name silent, intends to settle in Montereau-sur-le-Jard at the end of 2023 or in 2024. An aub

A 20 hectare field where previously wheat and beet grew will see 2,000 jobs flourish at the end of 2023 or in 2024!

This is the promise made by a German e-commerce company established in Europe which intends to set up its French headquarters and a warehouse to serve France in Montereau-sur-le-Jard, 10 kilometers from Melun (Seine-et -Marl).

Even if a precise name circulates among the elected representatives of the Melun Val de Seine agglomeration community (CAMVS), confidentiality remains essential, at the request of this large company providing jobs.

A godsend because the unemployment rate in the CAMVS was still 14.1% in 2017. And it increased by 15% at the departmental level in 2020.

“It is an oxygen tank for employment in the sector!

This group is present in 17 countries of the European Union.

This is its first establishment in France.

It provides here a distribution platform of 140,000 square meters on several levels, highly robotized and at the forefront of best practices in sustainable development ”, announces Christian Hus, the mayor (SE) of Montereau-sur-le-Jard , Briard village of 530 souls which covers 1000 hectares.

The company would be ready to recruit locally

And to add: “If this group sets up a seat in France, it will probably be here.

They will not announce it until next September or October, after validation of the building permit and modification of our local urban plan.

"According to the elected official, the recruitment will be done via Pôle emploi, the company being ready to" hire people living within a 45-minute drive to it ".

Montereau-sur-le-Jard, this Tuesday.

"If this group sets up a seat in France, it will probably be here", specifies Christian Hus, the mayor (SE).

The urban community, which is responsible for economic development, is thus expanding the fabric of businesses adjacent to the Paris-Villaroche site, initially dedicated to aeronautics.

La Poste's Coliposte activity moved there in 2020, under the leadership of Louis Vogel (Agir), president of CAMVS, keen to create jobs in the region.

The e-commerce company will set up its premises in the ZAC du Tertre, between the large yellow building of La Poste and Safran, whose premises are straddling Réau and Montereau-sur-le-Jard.

“What interests them here is the proximity to Colissimo, which is opposite, and the motorway service.

They foresee a flow of 130 to 150 trucks per day which will circulate from the RD57 to the interchange n ° 13 of the A5 motorway ”, specifies the mayor, who hastens to reassure the population.

A company "connected with ecology and zero carbon"

“The inhabitants will not be impacted!

The center of the village on the Aubigny side is more than a kilometer from the site.

And the hamlet of Montereau 600 meters away.

The company is committed to planting mature trees over 10 meters high on the side of the building facing Montereau, ”says the elected official.

The inhabitants had been informed during the municipal council of last October 14th.

A motion in favor of the establishment of this company received seven votes for and seven against.

“But the voice of the mayor is preponderant,” recalls Christian Hus.

“If there had been a majority of votes against, we would have stopped there.

But I think we made the right choice.

It is difficult to exclude 2,000 jobs in this period.

What about his profession of faith published during the campaign for the last municipal elections?

“I said I wanted to be

vigilant about the quality of economic development projects

.

Precisely, this company seems to us connected ecology and zero carbon.

It will install photovoltaic panels on the roof of the warehouse.

Electric shuttles will connect it to Colissimo.

For its employees, it provides a bicycle park and relaxation terraces, etc.

We went to see them in their country: there is a certain state of mind.

This group is keen that its employees do not come to work backwards, ”says the elected official.

The mayor promises limited nuisance

And the flow of trucks?

“We had heard from interested courier companies as well, but they expected few jobs and 1,000 trucks per day.

Here, it will be 130 to 150 trucks daily, ”replied the mayor.

The support of the various communities also counts: that of the department for the road network by the development of the D57, from the broadcaster n ° 13 on the A5b to its intersection with the N36, aiming to calm and fluidify the induced traffic .

That of the region in terms of public transport by developing the G and 51 bus lines from Melun and Lieusaint.

And, finally, that of the CAMVS for the soft links.

An opponent of the project wanted an agricultural cooperative

The elected official sent a letter to his constituents this week.

He recalls the commitments of each other.

He also announces that the Prefect of Seine-et-Marne has decided to remove Montereau-sur-le-Jard from the perimeter of the 400 hectare deferred development zone (ZAD) located around Safran.

This ZAD was instituted by prefectural decree in 2018 to facilitate the possible act of pre-emption of land by the State.

"The decision to leave the perimeter allows us to protect the hamlet of Montereau from industrial establishments near homes and also to preserve agricultural land on 200 hectares", rejoices Christian Hus.

Elected opposition to the CAMVS, Bénédicte Monville (EELV) contests the project.

An environmental "heresy" in the context of global warming because "by artificializing the land, we reduce their capacity to absorb greenhouse gases, to absorb water during heavy rain episodes, which would slow down flooding. , and to nourish the water table during periods of drought ”.

Economically, she deplores the choice of e-commerce, an “offshorable” activity, which “shoots local commerce” and provides “poor quality jobs, physically demanding”, which deal with products manufactured “on the other hand”. end of the planet in scandalous working conditions ”.

According to her, “there was another choice: that of creating an agricultural cooperative on these lands to supply school canteens and the administration in Melun”.
