After a long journey devoted to science, culture, authorship and translation, the Arabic Language Academy member, Dr. Muwaffaq Daaboul, died today at the age of 85 years.
The late, who we heard from the Arabic Language Academy, was born in Damascus in 1936, holds a BA in Mathematical and Physical Sciences from Damascus University in 1957 and a PhD in Mathematical Sciences specializing in Fluid Mechanics Precision from Vienna Technical University in Austria in 1961.
He held many scientific and administrative positions and was a faculty member at the University of Damascus and head of the mathematics department there. He also worked as editor-in-chief of several journals from Damascus for scientific research, information culture, and the informational magazine, and was appointed vice president of Damascus University for scientific affairs, president of the University of Qalamoun, president of the Syrian Scientific Society for Informatics, as well as his membership in The Supreme Committee for the Empowerment of the Arabic Language and others.
He has authored dozens of scientific books, including fluid mechanics, nodal analysis, differential equations theory, fluid balance, the dictionary of contemporary mathematics, and the high mathematics series in cooperation with others, and he translated with others dozens of books, including school mathematics in the nineties and lessons in high mathematics.
As for scientific research, there are a number of them in mathematics and in the Arabic language, their importance and reality, as they played an important role in Arabizing a number of mathematical terms.
