The Supreme Court today (Wednesday) discussed disqualifying the candidacy of Abtisam Mara'ana-Menuhin from running in the upcoming elections, after the Election Commission rejected her candidacy last week.

The Election Commission disqualified the candidacy of Maraana-Menuhin, who is ranked seventh on the Labor Party list, by a majority of 16 supporters against 15 opponents.

The disqualification applications were submitted by a Jewish power list and Maozia Segal, who was severely wounded among the Chinese farm.

The petitioner for the disqualification, Chairman of Jewish Power Itamar Ben Gvir, said before the hearing began that "we heard yesterday in News 12 that the respondent submitted an affidavit in which she returns from all sorts of points.

It does not address the central evidence we have presented.

Of course, I'm talking about that very serious interview with "The Colonies Magazine."

He added that "if we had replaced Dr. Ben-Ari, Baruch Marzel or Benzi Gupstein, they would have had no chance. These things deny the existence of Israel. "As a Jewish and democratic state. These things are support for terrorism."

Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit said before the election committee hearing that he believes that Maraana-Menuhin's candidacy should not be rejected.

"In the Attorney General's position, in light of the Supreme Court's ruling regarding the criteria for disqualification of candidates, the limited evidence presented in the two applications for disqualification of the respondent's Knesset candidacy, most of which does not substantiate any of the three grounds for disqualification," Mandelblit said.

"(He) does not establish an evidentiary basis for accepting the rejection requests, and certainly no" critical evidential mass "of unequivocal, clear and convincing evidence has accumulated in relation to one of the at least three grounds for disqualification, which is required by the Supreme Court ruling to disqualify a candidate from Knesset elections."

Maraana earlier this month expressed remorse for the post she wrote in 2013, in which she said she did not stand by the siren on Memorial Day.

In an interview with News 12, Maraana said that "I stand by the siren when I'm out. I'm sorry it (the post) hurts every heart of a mother or father or a brother or sister who lost his son."

She added that "this is a very old and miserable status. Today, if I had rewritten it, rewritten it, I would not have written it at all."
