A musical journey from Syria to India for instrumental pieces performed by a jazz band led by musician Dalama Shihab on the opera stage of Dar Al-Assad for Culture and Arts.

The evening, which was held in cooperation with the Sada Cultural Association, was attended by musicians Shihab on the Trombet instrument, Narik Abjian, Tariq Skiker on a piano and keyboard, in the name of Al-Jaber Contrabass, Abeer Al-Batal Singing, Hannibal Saad Guitar and Faris Al Dahan Drums.

During the evening, 11 different pieces of music were presented between the Syrian heritage, the classical patristic heritage, and the Indian flirtation, as they began playing a piece composed by Basem Al-Jaber, after which the band presented pieces of the Syrian lyrical heritage. Loyal to the late Nasri Shams al-Din.

From the classical Indian invocation and flirtatious heritage, the band presented a variety of musical pieces, including a piece entitled In the Cold of the Evening and Colin Min Rang.

The program’s abundant series attracted a large audience of young people, who liked jazz songs because of the vitality and enthusiasm they lack in Western opera songs and the sobriety that we do not find in loud rap songs.

It is noteworthy that the jazz band was established in 2018 from a group of experienced wind instrument players in Syria, some of whom participated in the Syrian Jazz Orchestra since 2005 and organized a workshop in 2019 to introduce students of the Higher Institute of Music in Jazz, followed by a ceremony for the participating students at Dar Al-Assad.
