For a long time, Jean-Marie Bockel, who was mayor of Mulhouse, deputy, socialist minister of Mitterrand in the 1980s, then secretary of state of opening of Sarkozy twenty years later, and finally senator UDI, had announced that he would not run again in September 2020.
