The municipality of Buch am Buchrain is facing years of high investments.

This year's budget still has a comparatively low volume.

Nevertheless, there was criticism in the local council - especially with regard to increasing taxes.

Buch am Buchrain - The administrative budget for 2020 provided for a volume of 3.3 million euros, informed chamberlain Doreen Graf.

Ultimately, 157,000 euros more could be earned.

42,000 euros were added to the budget.

The planned total volume of the budget (1.4 million) was undercut by 667,000 euros.

There were major shortfalls in the fire station, Hammerbach expansion and water supply projects.

On the income side, funding for wide expansion is still open.

Deputy Mayor Josef Auer (WG) reported on a conversation with the municipal supervisory authority, which indicated that savings should be made and that they should use their own sources of income.

"That of course increases the pressure on the community to raise fees and taxes," assumed Martin Kern (SPD).

In fact, the municipality now wants to adapt several statutes (reports will follow), which Kern criticized.

“I think the whole package of increases, no matter how sensible they are, too big and not so urgent.” For example, the property tax is to be adjusted for agricultural and forestry operations and for land.

Kern pointed out that the tax rate should be increased from 340 to 380 percent in 2021 according to the budget charter.

Mayor Ferdinand Geisberger (CSU) and Chamberlain Graf had not previously pointed out the innovation.

Margit Kunstwadl (WG) also noticed the increase.

It was annoying that this had not been addressed: "That would have just slipped through now." Ludwig Obermaier (WG) wanted such important changes to be mentioned in the future.

Geisberger justified the increase in the assessment rate with increased tasks and costs for the community.

"Here a tax, there a levy - that adds up for the citizens", Robert Ulzhöfer (SPD) rejected the property tax change.

Ultimately, only the two SPD councilors voted against the 2021 budget.
