Yesterday (24th), a photo of a police officer outside the Pak Tam Chung holiday camp in Sai Kung, taking pictures of 8 mountain hikers without masks, caused a large number of netizens to leave messages and discussions. Some people criticized the police officer. There is no strict law enforcement.
The police responded to media enquiries today to confirm the incident and said that the police had reminded the public to comply with the "Prevention and Control of Disease Ordinance" (Chapter 599).

Some netizens uploaded photos to the Facebook group "Civil Servants Secrets" yesterday (24th). The pictures and texts all pointed out that a police officer was outside the Pak Tam Chung holiday camp in Sai Kung and took pictures of 8 hikers who did not wear masks. Someone was suspected Violation of gathering restrictions and epidemic prevention regulations.
As you can see in the picture, eight mountain hikers stand apart in groups of four for the police officers to take photos, but their outfits are placed in the same place. As for the police officers taking pictures of the hikers, they wear masks.
The police said that during their duties in Sai Kung district yesterday (24), a police officer was asked by the public to help take pictures. The officer had reminded the public to abide by the "Prevention and Control of Disease Ordinance" (Chapter 599).
The current epidemic is severe. The police will continue to actively work together with other government departments to fight the epidemic, and take appropriate actions with relevant government departments in accordance with the crimes prescribed in Chapter 599.
