The British Supreme Court on Friday (February 26) refused the return to the United Kingdom of Shamima Begum, a 21-year-old young woman who joined the jihadist group Islamic State in Syria, in order to challenge her deprivation of nationality.

In its decision, the high court decided to "
suspend Shamima Begum's appeal until she is able to play an effective role in it without the safety of the public being compromised
".
