The budget will also set aside about 765 million yuan to support the HKTB to revitalize the tourism industry in Hong Kong. The authorities also plan to consider resuming the relaxation of restrictions on local tour group gatherings, gaining space for the tourism industry, and continuing to discuss the "air travel bubble" .
As for Radio Television Hong Kong’s budget for the next financial year of about 995 million yuan, which is down from about 1.043 billion yuan this year, it has been questioned as "drying in the dark".
In terms of innovation and technology, the government will add another 9.5 billion yuan to the Innovation and Technology Fund. The amount of newly injected capital is close to half of the current balance.
As for the "Outstanding Creative Scientists Program", which will be launched in the first half of this year, the project will involve about 2 billion yuan and will be shared by the government, universities and the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charity Fund.
The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Qiu Tenghua, and the Secretary for Innovation and Technology, Xue Yongheng, will hold a press conference at 3:30 pm to explain the latest content of the previous budget.
