Chief Executive Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor said in a speech on the development of the Greater Bay Area today (26) that the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area is an important development strategy for the country. It is the country with the highest degree of openness, the strongest economic vitality, and a GDP of up to US$1.7 trillion. The huge market for Hong Kong will bring unlimited opportunities for Hong Kong. The SAR government will spare no effort to promote the development of the Greater Bay Area and actively encourage participation of all sectors of society, especially young people.
Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor pointed out that the Greater Bay Area will provide young people with opportunities to spread their wings, and will officially launch the Greater Bay Area Youth Funding and Entrepreneurship Program, the Greater Bay Area Innovation and Entrepreneurship Base Experience Funding Program, and the Greater Bay Area Youth Employment Program. Provide important and diversified support for young people in district urban development.
Among them, in the Greater Bay Area Youth Funding and Entrepreneurship Funding Scheme, Lam Cheng stated that the government expects to approve 100 million yuan to fund more than 10 non-governmental organizations and provide funding for nearly 200 youth startups.
In addition, Carrie Lam said the response to the Youth Employment Program in the Greater Bay Area has been overwhelming. Since the application was accepted in early January, about 200 companies have registered their intention to participate in the program, providing more than 1,400 vacancies, and more than half are innovation and technology positions.
Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor believes that young people in Hong Kong are proficient in biliteracy and trilingualism, possess innovative spirit and international vision, and possess excellent potential. They are encouraged to climb high and look far, enter the Greater Bay Area to engage in entrepreneurship or employment in order to develop their strengths.
