China called on Western countries to stop spreading misleading and defaming information and interfere in its internal affairs, stressing that the human rights situation in China is at its best.
"China strongly opposes what several countries and organizations are doing to fabricate and spread lies about the situations in Xinjiang, Tibet and Hong Kong with the aim of discrediting China and neglecting the facts," Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said during a press conference. The United States, Britain and several European countries, in addition to Canada, recently misused the platform of the United Nations Human Rights Council to launch unfounded accusations against China.
On this issue, Wang stressed that "these countries practice their usual deception to politicize the issue and use it as a means to interfere in the internal affairs of other countries," noting that "these countries, through this approach, impede international cooperation and dialogue on human rights."
