The spread of Covid-19 in Estonia is about to reach critical proportions, a senior health official warned as the government tightens restrictions to deal with one of the highest contagion rates in Europe.
The rate of infection in Estonia is currently 887.75 per 100,000 inhabitants on the average of the last seven days and the rate of contagion is very fast, authorities said.

"The situation is highly critical,"
Ullar Lanno, head of the country's health authority, told reporters.
According to him, hospitals are at the limit of their capacity and the planned vaccination centers may also have to be used as treatment rooms for patients with Covid.
The Estonian government also gave the green light to restrictions on Friday in an attempt to stem the infection rate to subside next week.
Religious services will be closed, museums and theaters closed, while gatherings of more than ten people in the open air will only be allowed between 6 a.m. and 9 p.m.
