Freising cultural workers meet online - and think about new concepts

Hardly anyone has been as badly shaken by Corona as the cultural scene. In Freising, however, those affected remain positive and are thinking about new concepts.

Hardly anyone has been as badly shaken by Corona as the cultural scene.

In Freising, however, those affected remain positive and are thinking about new concepts.

Freising - “It's really good to see you all again.” This is how music school director Odilo Zapf felt about the online conference “Art and Culture in Freising - We keep zam!” On Thursday evening.

Head of Department Ingo Bartha was able to at least greet over 70 participants on the screens - including, of course, the new Head of the Department of Culture, Markus Bader.

Whether a cultural organizer or a cultural worker - the mood was similar: 2020 was a sad year for culture, 2021 is hoped for the best and wants to be creative and spontaneous.

“My God, there is nothing else we can do,” said Bartha.

The memory of the "summer wonder" is still alive

Culture advisor Susanne Günther, who had requested the virtual meeting, emphasized that despite the pandemic situation, great cultural events and ideas had arisen, reminding of the "summer miracle".

Bartha and city youth worker Fritz Andresen confirmed that they are planning another “summer wonder” in 2021, that the Lindenkeller will be included as a venue even more, but that no date and no artists have yet been set.

Incidentally, Günther found it a shame that hairdressers and hardware stores are currently being talked about, but not about culture when it comes to relaxation.

Music school director Odilo Zapf, for whom the “summer miracle” was also “a great story”, was happy that one-on-one lessons could start again in the music school from Monday (see report on page 1).

Museum director breaks his lance for live streams

Bartha described how you were left with practically nothing in the spring of 2020, how "the entire annual plan for 2020/2021 collapsed".

And no sooner had you even been able to put on two plays in the Luitpoldhalle than the second lockdown had come.

Now everything is being postponed to autumn 2021 and spring 2022, and artists and ensembles can be booked “normally”.

There is no other chance.

And: "I hope the best."

Also think about live streams in the future: Eike Berg, Head of the European Cultural Center in Freising.

A topic that came up again and again on Thursday: cultural events via live stream.

Philipp Lachner from the Eventunion in Freising, who announced that they have something bigger for June "in the pipeline", which is currently in the city to be applied for, broke a lance for streaming live.

Andresen said that you need a format and a concept for this - and that is expensive and time-consuming.

Bartha prefers to rely on “good hygiene concepts” and live performances in front of an audience.

The director of the Schafhof, Eike Berg, agreed with this in principle: “Live stream does not, of course, replace culture, art and people live on site.” But it must be allowed to think of such formats.

And because there is often a lack of technical implementation or because it costs a lot of money when commissioning companies, Berg envisions a kind of “traveling technology crew” that could work for a large number of Freising cultural workers.

At least 3klang, according to Gottfried Herrmann, has only had good experiences with its live stream teacher concerts.

Either way: Freising's cultural scene will have to be spontaneous, creative and also virtual for a while.
