It is not certain that Frédérique Vidal was fully aware of the scale of the crisis that she was going to trigger by naming the hold of "leftist Islam" on the university.
It was to be expected, however.
It is not simply a corporatism jealous of its privileges that it has just unveiled, but the institutional and publicly subsidized infrastructure of what must be called power over the collective representations of the ideological left.
The debate will benefit from exploring the much larger crisis affecting the situation of the social sciences and which even overwhelms them.
