The emotions boiled high in the Moosburg city council meeting.

It was about an application to set an example for refugees.

Mayor Dollinger voted against.

Moosburg

- There are no two opinions in the Moosburg city council on the catastrophic conditions in the Moria refugee camp on the Greek island of Lesbos, but in the discussion about the responsibility of the municipality, the views of the councils are miles apart.

After hard discussions and against the will of Mayor Josef Dollinger (FW), the majority of the committee declared their willingness to accept refugees in Moosburg.

To this end, a motion was tabled supported by representatives from five political groups.

Support for refugees: Dollinger tries to slow down the request

Under the leadership of the Greens, the two Fresh city councilors Julia Neumayr and Thomas Wittmann, Philipp Fincke (FDP), Stefan John (Linke) and Gerhard Beubl (SPD) took part in the push for the admission of people from the refugee camp.

The willingness to support the Freising district and inform the responsible federal and state authorities.

Mayor Josef Dollinger tried to slow down the request right from the start: “The fate of the refugees is tragic and leaves none of us untouched.

But legally this is not the responsibility of the city of Moosburg.

The admission of refugees does not fall within our area of responsibility. ”The district distributes the refugees allocated to it, and therefore the mayor did not want to put the application to the vote.

Rather, applicants should contact their federal or state parliament.

What is voted here is not determined by the mayor, but by the city council.

Johannes Becher (Green)

Johannes Becher, Green City Councilor and Member of the State Parliament, saw it very differently: "What is voted here is not determined by the mayor, but by the city council." Becher emphasized that a resolution was drawn up with the declared willingness to accept people from Moria .

It is possible to signal readiness.

"If you don't want that, you should vote against it."

Mayor Dollinger stuck to his opinion that it was a "pure showcase".

As a compromise, he suggested that a resolution be given to support the district in offering refugees a place to stay here.

"I can also write a letter to the Chancellor," said Dollinger.

The federal and state governments can make the Moosburg point of view clear.

In the discussion, however, it was also mentioned that humanity must set many signs.

“We cannot save the world,” said Verena Kuch (Greens) in her fiery appeal, “but we can apply pressure.

Moria is not a state of affairs and it needs a rethink. ”Gerhard Beubl (SPD) hit the same note:“ Not declaring yourself responsible means looking the other way. ”Dollinger replied,“ that we do not explain anything, but are not responsible ”.

His FW colleague Ludwig Kieninger added that “the applicants cannot offer any accommodation”.

After a tough and emotional debate, a vote was finally taken on Moosburg's willingness to offer refugees from Moria more livable accommodation.

After the 16: 6 decision, Mayor Josef Dollinger will signal Moosburg's readiness in letters to the Chancellor, District Administrator and the authorities responsible for refugee admissions.
