An IDF spokesman said that First Sergeant Yonatan Granot, an IDF fighter, died today (Friday) after being fatally wounded last Tuesday as a result of gunfire from another soldier at a military base in the Jordan Valley area.

Granot was a fighter in the Basalt Battalion of the Nahal Brigade, 22 years old at the time of his fall, from Kibbutz Einat.

Recall that according to the investigation conducted so far this is a serious shooting incident that took place in a camp in the Jordan Valley, during which the fighter was hit by a Roger bullet, a weapon for dispersing demonstrations, which was apparently fired from a multiple where ranges were used shortly before.

The investigation shows that a military force conducted a training session at the range in the Ruger bullets as part of preparations for operational employment in the Gaza Division.

At the end of the range, the platoon commander dismantled the soldiers' weapons and placed them near the company guard's post.

Later, one of the faculty members picked up one of the weapons, aiming for the space where the fighter was walking with another soldier, and at that point a bullet was apparently fired that hit the fighter's head, which collapsed and lost consciousness.

A paramedic and two paramedics rushed to the scene, provided primary medical care and prepared the wounded for evacuation.

At that time a helicopter was jumped, and the wounded man was taken to the hospital.

From the Hadassah Ein Kerem Medical Center, where Granot was hospitalized, it was reported that the soldier's family decided with great nobility to donate his organs in order to save the lives of others.

The IDF said that it shares the family's grief.
