The Marienstift in Dorfen has so far survived the pandemic without any infections among residents.

The senior center relied on rapid tests and FFP2 masks early on.

Dorfen

- The Marienstift Dorfen has come through the Corona crisis relatively well so far.

"We are now celebrating one year old: The Marienstift remains corona-free," reported head Marion Prey on Wednesday evening to the councilors in the home committee.

None of the residents were infected, and only two employees tested positive for the virus.

At the same time the vaccinations are finished for now.

“All but three residents are vaccinated,” said Prey.

With the employees it is 60 percent.

The home manager is convinced of the in-house test strategy.

"We pulled one of the two infected employees out using a quick test," reported Prey.

For them, that proves that this is the right precaution.

This practice has existed in the house since the beginning of November, it was not mandatory until mid-January.

“We also had the FFP2 masks before the decision was made,” said the 50-year-old.

“We have now done 2,200 rapid tests,” said the manager.

The Marienstift always had enough test material.

The district office supplied the facility generously, and tests were also ordered.

The result: firstly, no infection among the 90 residents and secondly: "We have always had our house open to visitors, limited to one person per resident." Of course, these visits are only possible to a limited extent and subject to strict hygiene regulations.

"We test the visitors every time they come in."

On the other hand, Prey thinks little of the alternative to self-made rapid tests - namely that visitors bring a negative PCR test.

This applies up to 48 hours after the results have been communicated.

However, the finding is often only available after two days.

“The visitors would have been on the road for four days and could have become infected again in the meantime,” says Prey, describing her concerns.

In addition, a visitor to the Marienstift does not have to pay anything for a quick test, while doctors' surgeries charge 35 euros or more for it.

The Marienstift was the first senior center in the district to which the mobile vaccination team of the BRK Erding moved out.

This first mission on December 30th was followed by three more.

Day care guests could also have been vaccinated, Prey reported.

When asked by the committee, the manager said about the employees' willingness to vaccinate: "That is their decision, there is no compulsory vaccination."

"The Marienstift is Biontech-vaccinated," said Prey.

With this vaccine, which works with a messenger gene, younger employees in particular have other concerns, added Freyja Brönnle, head of nursing.

Problems with reproduction are sometimes feared.

Prey was convinced that better education could have helped here.

It was difficult that no information event could be held due to the pandemic.

But: "Nurses are still in priority class 1 and can get an appointment at the vaccination center in Erding at any time," explained Brönnle.

These descriptions and the half-yearly report visualized in a short film impressed the city councils.

The Hemadlenzn parade in 2021 could also be seen in it.

Employees and residents could have a bit of carnival fun inside.

“And no police came,” said Prey with a laugh.
