The Foreign Affairs Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives passed a resolution on February 25 condemning China and the Hong Kong SAR government for continuing to infringe upon the rights and freedoms of Hong Kong people.
The resolution urges the President, the Secretary of State and the Secretary of Finance to cooperate with allies, including sanctions against those who undermine the rights of Hong Kong people.

The resolution reaffirmed its support for the people of Hong Kong, urged the Chinese and Hong Kong governments to fulfill their commitments in the "Sino-British Joint Declaration" and safeguard Hong Kong's judicial independence, and release all persons arrested under the "Hong Kong National Security Act".
The resolution also encourages Washington to coordinate with its allies to protect Hong Kong people facing persecution and sanction Chinese and SAR officials who harm the rights of Hong Kong people.
