In Munich, vaccinations should soon be much faster: As health officer Beatrix Zurek reveals in an interview that there will soon be twice as many vaccination appointments.

Munich - From Friday, the Corona * vaccines from AstraZeneca and Moderna will also be used in Munich * - so far only Biontech / Pfizer have been used.

Health officer Beatrix Zurek reveals this in an interview with our newspaper.

She also explains that the capacities in Riem are to be further expanded and how appointments are made with the new vaccines.

Ms. Zurek, how many people can be vaccinated in the vaccination center and how many are there actually?

With the maximum expansion, 7000 people can be vaccinated in the exhibition hall.

Currently, an average of around 1500 people are vaccinated each day.

But will they top up?

We will increase to around 3000 vaccinations per day over the next few days.

In addition to Biontech, the substances from AstraZeneca and Moderna are also to be vaccinated.

Who receives which vaccine?

That cannot be said, because who receives which vaccine is automatically determined by the BayIMCO system using an algorithm stored there.

The vaccination center itself has no influence on this - regardless of the vaccine.

AstraZeneca may only be vaccinated to people under 65 years of age.

How does the organization of the local vaccination center work with three different vaccines?

There will be a separate vaccination line for each vaccine.

How many doses of the different vaccines have you received and how many are in stock?

We have received around 100,000 vaccine doses so far, more than 81,000 of them from Biontech.

From Moderna there are 5900, from AstraZeneca 12 700. The inventory is constantly changing.

So far, however, the vaccine has only been vaccinated with Biontech.

Moderna and AstraZeneca will start at the end of this week.

Do the vaccines differ in shelf life?

Yes.

AstraZeneca can be stored in the refrigerator for six months, Moderna only 30 days, and Biontech must be inoculated after five days at the latest.

Are people from the second priority level already being vaccinated in Riem, or will teachers be vaccinated from Friday?

People from the second priority level are not yet being vaccinated.

We do not yet know how the prioritization for teaching staff and educational staff is entered into the BayIMCO software.

The timing of the start of the vaccination is also not yet known.

If I have an invitation to the vaccination appointment, will I find out which vaccine I will receive when I make the appointment?

No.

That is also not planned.

Can I refuse to be vaccinated with AstraZeneca and what happens then?

Yes.

You can refuse.

According to the Ministry of Health, a rejection of a vaccine does not lead to a general exclusion from the vaccination offer.

The person would then have to expect renewed waiting times.

Would you get vaccinated with AstraZeneca.

In any case.

I don't understand all this bad talking.

The vaccine is approved and has good effectiveness.
