A fetus of a corona patient in advanced pregnancy is born lifeless and is also positive for the virus - this was reported today (Saturday) from Meir Hospital in Kfar Saba.

This is the second time a fetus has died after being tested for the virus by its mother.

Corona patient arrived at the hospital in the 36th week of her pregnancy due to the absence of fetal movements.

An examination found that the fetus was lifeless, and after it was born it was found to be positive for the virus.

Last week, for the first time since the epidemic broke out in Israel, a fetus died after being infected with corona from its mother.

The woman, who was in the 25th week of her pregnancy, felt heat and pain and a few days later stopped feeling the movement of the fetus.

The woman came to undergo the process at Assuta Hospital in Ashdod, where she was found positive in a corona examination.

After the quiet birth, a test was also performed on the placenta of the fetus - which found that it had contracted the virus.

This was the first case of its kind in the country, although several cases have been reported in the literature in which pregnant women were required to undergo a quiet birth after being infected in the corona.

Earlier this month, the Ministry of Health ruled that vaccines against the corona virus could be given to pregnant women, at all stages.

This position, consistent with both the World Health Organization's approach and the position of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in the United States, is based on the fact that there is no evidence of harm to the fetus or during pregnancy - neither as a vaccine nor recognized as a biological mechanism.

The Ministry of Health also recommends that breastfeeding women get vaccinated.

The ministry clarified that for women who are planning to become pregnant, or those who are undergoing fertility treatment, it is recommended to complete the two doses of the vaccine before pregnancy.

For a woman who received the first dose and then found out she was pregnant, it is recommended to complete the second dose of the vaccine according to the usual schedule.
