A system D campaign

2021-02-27T17:55:24.831Z

CHRONIC. With the Covid-19, the regional campaign will be unlike any other. Which forces candidates to adapt.

The candidates for the regional are in the dark.

The poll has been officially postponed to June 13 and 20, but, with the resumption of the epidemic, the parties are wondering what the campaign could look like.

Candidates will have to adapt to mobilize their voters.

They already know that they will be ordering fewer leaflets than usual, since they have to give up door to door.

On the other hand, they will notably have to imagine digital tools to convince via the Internet.

The heads of the list already designated are seriously considering it.

They are setting up their teams and have already started the trips.

And so… incurred expenses.

But here too, the Covid is disrupting, by making banks even more cautious than usual.

Because the law formalizing the election dates provides that "no later than April 1" the government submits a report on the state of the epidemic and on "the necessary adjustments to the holding of the polls".

This sword of Damocles over the campaign can make loan negotiation difficult for candidates.

"The review clause is in everyone's mind ... including those of bankers", recognizes the treasurer of the PS, Pernelle Richardot, however not worried about the outcome.

EELV, which has launched a campaign of loans to its supporters, will use these sums while waiting for the banks to “unblock” the funding.

Adapt, renew: with the Covid, candidates will have to call on ... system D.
