A huge meadow of flowers in front of the house reminds Walter Schneider of his wife and Alexander Felbinger of his mother.

Gaby Felbinger-Schneider initiated the environmental protection project in 2019.

She died at the end of 2020 at the age of 55 - but her husband and son, with the help of sponsors, let the bee pasture in Babenried continue to grow.

Babenried -

The joint project in the Babenried district of Landsberieder is starting its third year.

Out of love for nature, Gaby Felbinger-Schneider decided in 2019 to create a large meadow of flowers adjacent to her house on the edge of Babenried.

She was able to inspire the land owner of the field, Johann Hollinger from Überacker (Maisach municipality), with her idea - and then many friends and neighbors who sponsored parts of the meadow.

In 2019, 4,500 square meters bloomed, the following year it was 11,000 square meters.

The municipality of Landsberied also took part with 2000 square meters.

In addition, the Landsberied fruit and horticultural association is there every year with 1,000 square meters.

Gaby Felbinger-Schneider died in November of last year.

Husband Walter Schneider (56) and son Alexander Felbinger (28) are deeply saddened.

But it was immediately clear to both of them: They would continue the conservation project.

"My wife wanted that," says the 56-year-old.

“And it's a nice memory of her.” This was also the opinion of friends and relatives who did without flower arrangements at the funeral and instead donated money for the bee pasture.

We are still looking for sponsors

And so it is already certain that 20,000 square meters will bloom this year and next - in memory of Gaby Felbinger-Schneider and to protect flora and fauna.

Now father and son are aiming for 25,000 square meters, which is why further sponsors are being sought for the project.

And this is how you can participate in the joint project: A donation of 25 euros per year and 100 square meters is required - for sowing the flower meadow and as a crop failure for the farmer.

Interested parties should get in touch by mid-March at the latest: by email to gaby @ schneider-bau-gmbh.de.

As soon as the field is completely frost-free and sowing is possible, it starts.

The contributions are then transferred directly to the farmer.

"25 euros for nature - it doesn't hurt anyone", Walter Schneider advertises for a sponsorship.

The more participants there are, the more one can promote biodiversity.

“Customers” for even more flowers will probably be plentiful.

In 2020, the Fürstenfeldbruck Association of Bavarian Beekeepers set up a box for a bee colony.

Now everyone is hoping that the queen survived the winter.

Soon, in the course of spring, a second people will be given a home on the edge of the meadow.

Walter Schneider, who now lives with his son in a shared flat for men, so to speak, on the edge of the flower meadow, is already looking forward to early summer.

When he looks out the window at home, he sees life in bloom.

And thinks of his wife, who loved nature so much.
