Listeriosis outbreak in Hispanic preferred cheeses 1:07
(CNN) -
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) warns people at increased risk of severe listeriosis not to eat cheese and cottage cheese, after some of these products will be handled in a facility linked to a multi-state outbreak of the disease.
The El Abuelito brand recalled all fresh cheese products on February 19, due to possible listeria contamination.
Because the quesillo and cottage cheese are made or packaged in the same facility and could be distributed under other brands, the CDC is concerned that the cheeses may be contaminated.

Pregnant women, adults 65 and older, and people with weakened immune systems are at increased risk for severe listeriosis disease.
The CDC advises these groups not to eat any brand of cheese or cottage cheese, in addition to the recalled queso fresco products.
The agency also advises other people not to eat El Abuelito cheese and cottage cheese or fresh cheese recalled.
Symptoms of listeria infection usually begin one to four weeks after eating contaminated food and can include fever, muscle aches, headache, confusion, and loss of balance.
