Coronavirus: 12 cases of variant detected in Chambourcy in Yvelines, holidays extended by one week

Kindergarten, primary and middle school children will not resume classes on Monday after the discovery of cases of the South African or Brazilian variant. A vast screening operation has been launched in the town.


On its Facebook page, the City of Chambourcy announced Thursday afternoon the closure of schools and nurseries for a week, and therefore the postponement of the start of the school year to Monday, March 8, while the rest of the schoolchildren of the academy will resume the way to classes from this Monday March 1st.

Following the discovery of several cases of COVID 19 (South African variant) in our town, the ARS and the municipality invite all Camborians to be tested.

Meet at the Georges Gallienne gymnasium, Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

In addition, all schools in the city will be closed from March 1 to 5.

An explanatory letter will be left in your mailbox tomorrow morning.

The mayor of this town of 5,700 inhabitants, Pierre Morange, told France Télévisions that this decision came following the discovery of at least 12 cases of the Brazilian or South African variant of the virus.

A team from the AP-HP (Assistance Publique des Hôpitaux de Paris), made up of doctors, nurses and administrative staff will take the sample.

Consequently, all the inhabitants of Chambourcy have been invited since this Saturday morning to present themselves between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. today or tomorrow in a gymnasium in the city.

The mayor also indicates that he has ordered 600 saliva tests for the students.
