Covid-19: stable hospitalizations, still on a high plateau

Some 24,000 people have tested positive for the virus and the positivity rate continues to rise, to 7.2%.


The number of patients in hospital due to Covid-19 remained around 25,000, including some 3,400 in intensive care, according to hospital data published on Saturday by Public Health France, stable figures compared to the day before.

French hospitals welcomed 24,995 patients with the coronavirus, against 25,130 on Friday.

A week earlier, they were 25,269.

Of these nearly 25,000 hospitalized patients, 1,007 have entered the hospital in the past 24 hours (1,634 Friday).

The intensive care units, which receive the most serious cases, had 3,453 patients (including 208 transferred in the last 24 hours), against 3,445 on Friday.

Some 24,000 (23,996) people have tested positive for the virus (against 25,207 on Friday) and the positivity rate, namely the number of positive people out of all the people tested, continues to increase, to 7.2%, against 7 , 1% Friday and 6.1% Saturday February 20.

Public Health France announced 186 deaths on Saturday, after 286 on Friday and 183 a week ago.

The epidemic has killed 86,332 people in France since it began a year ago.

The bar of 2 million people who received at least one dose of vaccine will soon be crossed: we were at 2.918 million on Friday - the data published concern the figures of the day before -, of which 1.561 million received the two doses of the vaccination .
