The Chief Administrative Manager (Patient Safety and Risk Management) of the Hospital Authority, He Wanxia, announced that an operation assistant in the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department of Queen Mary Hospital has been diagnosed with new coronary pneumonia.
Queen Mary Hospital stated that she was sent to a quarantine center for quarantine on Tuesday (23) due to the diagnosis of her family living with her. Two days later, she developed a low-grade fever and was tested for the virus. It was confirmed that the test result was positive today and she has been admitted to a community treatment facility.
The infection control team started contact tracing on the day that the assistant was required to be quarantined. Her last working day was Monday (22nd), and her virus test result was negative.
The employee is mainly responsible for transporting documents and cleaning the environment. There is no need to contact patients. He wears a surgical mask during work. No patients and staff are listed as close contacts.
The hospital will arrange for another 6 employees in the same office to be tested for the virus.
The hospital stated that the office has been thoroughly cleaned and disinfected and will continue to closely monitor the health of employees and maintain communication with the Center for Health Protection.
