More and more farms and shops offer regional products regardless of opening times: an overview of the machines and self-service stands in Wolfratshausen, Geretsried and Bad Tölz.

Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen - No staff, no service - but regional products at all times: You can now shop contactlessly on many farms and many family businesses.

Usually it is a rustic garden shed with a cooling machine in it, but sometimes it is also a small room at the farm or a mobile solution with a cash register.

In some places there is everything to do with eggs, in other places you can do almost the entire week's shopping.

The offer in the district is extensive.

Delicatessen to go

Often you want to grill when you don't have anything at home and the shops are closed.

Jakob Baumgartner from the delicatessen shop of the same name in Icking would like to solve this problem with his machine.

Last summer he started mainly with grilled food, since then he has been gradually expanding the range.

Over the winter, he prefers South Tyrolean smoked sausages and bacon.

“It's bought well for a snack,” he observed.

Baumgartner sources meat, eggs, butter and cheese from the region.

He makes sauces and beef goulash himself. In spring there should also be asparagus and vegetables.

Baumgartner wants to offer an "all-round carefree package".

This is why cyclists and hikers will find thirst quenchers in the machine.

The only drink that wasn't in demand: milk.

Baumgartner had to take them out of the range again.

Egg chamber and machine

Monika Mayer has been selling eggs and pasta in her "Eier-Kammerl" in Ergertshausen near Egling and in a vending machine in the Wolfratshausen district of Weidach since May 2018.

The family keeps 1,600 chickens in five mobile houses.

In addition to the raw product, pasta made from spelled and durum wheat as well as egg liqueur are made on the farm.

In the "Eier-Kammerl" there is always cake or whatever else the trained herbalist has conjured up.

She currently offers spice mixes and rose petal syrup.

Pleasure hut

The pleasure hut by Franziska Schwarz is a bit out of line.

It is not open 24/7, but is open all day.

And there is prepared food.

The operator of the catering service "GenussKuss" offers self-service meals.

In the refrigerator, there are preserved dishes waiting to be warmed up and freshly prepared salads to be eaten straight away.

Payment is based on trust.

With the pleasure hut, the cook fulfilled a long-cherished wish at the beginning of the year.

Opening times

: Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.

On weekends and public holidays from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Butcher's shop longer

Because of the corona pandemic, not so many customers are allowed into the shops.

Last summer, the family business set up a machine next to their main branch on Amselweg so that they don't have to wait in front of the door of the butcher's shop no matter what the weather.

There, customers can pull their grilled food themselves quickly and without contact.

The practical thing: the machine is open around the clock.

In addition to grilled meat and sausage, there are also cold cuts, butter, eggs and drinks.

Farm butcher Fischer

The Fischer family runs a farm in the Rothenrain district of Wackersberg with its own slaughterhouse and butcher shop on the farm.

So far, she has only sold meat and sausage from her cart at farmers' markets.

Since September last year, they have also been available around the clock across from the production facility.

The family calls their machine, which many cyclists pass by, "Genussbox".

“It's been very well received, but it's a little quieter over the winter,” observed Joseph Fischer.

Most of the content comes from the family business.

Marinated meat, grilled sausage, Viennese ham and meat loaf, for example, but also eggs, homemade mustard or pear compote and apple juice from our own orchard.

Fischer only purchases cheese so that his customers can buy everything for a snack in the “enjoyment box”.

And in summer there will also be charcoal for the grill, he announces.

You can pay with cash and EC cards at the machine.

Regio Oim

Heisskögl farmers Leo Bacher and Andreas Kretschmer (“Burggraber”) wanted to merge their own products with those of the surrounding businesses.

That's why they set up a milk vending machine and food box across from the Altwirt inn in Sachsenkam in June of last year.

The fresh milk is supplied by the Bacher cows, which are kept on the pasture.

The meat comes from Kretschmer's farm.

There is also butter, cheese, eggs, pasta, game and fish from the area.

The "Regio Oim" is very well received, says Kretschmer.

“It's going better than expected.

Zwickerhof

Martin Sappl's Zwickerhof belongs to the Biokreis association.

On the driveway to the farm - across from the forest cemetery at Tölzer Acker - there has been a hut for two years, in which there are eggs for self-service.

They come from the two mobile chicken coops that wander across the property.

Sappl keeps 220 animals each.

At the moment the eggs are regularly sold out.

"There was a surge due to Corona," reports Sappl.

“People cook more and worry more about food.” Sappl's potatoes and onions are also popular.

Last year's harvest is already sold out.

When there are more supplies, the vegetables are also available at the sales stand.

In addition, there is regular meat at the Zwickerhof and soup chickens once a year if you order in advance.

Sappl only sells its own products.

“When they're out, they're out.

However, we will try to respond to demand when planning next year, ”says the organic farmer.

Regio roll shutters

The first machines in the district go back to the Mayr family from Ried.

“The boss's daughter thought that one had to sell regional products better,” reports Katharina Gabriel, who looks after the Regio-Roll stores.

The idea: a wooden hut on a trailer in which you can shop at any time.

The Mayr family runs three of these regional roll shops.

The machines only contain products from friendly farmers or businesses.

"You can stock up on it for breakfast, lunch and dinner," says Gabriel.

Milk and eggs are particularly popular.

In summer, the grilled food is very popular.

But there is much more: from cheese and sausage to muesli and potatoes.

Ringlerhof

If you can't buy the eggs from the Ringlerhof directly in Ellbach, you can now get them contactless in Bad Tölz.

Opposite the Weisser bakery is Sebastian Strein's new machine.

"I had the idea right from the first lockdown and was looking for a public place, but unfortunately that was not possible," says the keeper of 1400 chickens.

Finally he came to the Holnburger workshop.

There are now eggs in two sizes and noodles in several variations.

You can pay in cash or by card.

The reactions are very positive - from families who no longer have eggs for breakfast, younger people who want to bake spontaneously or older people who don't like going to a store for a box of eggs during these times.

“The audience is very mixed,” says Strein happily.

Free range eggs and pasta

Nicole Pfister's egg vending machine is right in front of the Danner-Hof.

Together with her parents, she looks after around 340 free-range chickens.

“Regionality is important to us,” she says.

About a year ago, she installed the machine so that the cookers can get fresh eggs from which they can see where they come from without having to walk far.

There you will also find noodles made from the farm's own eggs and semolina from the Off-Mühle in Sindelsdorf.

Eggs cabinet

“Open me” is written on the brightly painted cupboard in the parking lot between Lake Kochel and Schlehdorf Abbey.

This is where the Freisl family's machine is hidden, and they fill it with eggs from barn eggs and honey from their own production.

The family has 300 chickens and several bee colonies.

There used to be a self-service cool box on the farm.

"But at some point more and more eggs were missing than there was money in the till," reports Fritz Freisl.

That's why he bought a machine at auction 13 years ago, which he temporarily swapped for a newer model.

Greilingerhof

Always follow the signs: Egg lovers have been able to help themselves around the clock in a Kammerl at Greilingerhof for twelve years.

They come from the Waldherr family's 350 chickens.

Only: "At Easter we never had enough eggs and after that we didn't know what to do with them", reports Uschi Waldherr.

That's why she was looking for a good way to recycle the eggs and make them durable.

She has been making pasta in all imaginable shapes herself with enthusiasm for six years.

"There will soon be an Easter bunny shape," announced Waldherr.

She always likes to try something new.

Because there are fruit trees at the Greilingerhof, jam and liqueur are also available in the egg and noodle chamber, depending on the season.

Beindlhof

You can't just drive up by car and go shopping at the Beindlhof.

But if you take some time for a walk or a bike tour, you can reward yourself there every day from sunrise to sunset with a farm ice cream from the “Derfts-es-Eich-nehma-shop”.

The Kniegl family produces a wide variety of varieties on the farm and sells them in several shops in the region.

They also have a small hut with a freezer for self-service.

In addition to ice cream, Beindlhof also has herbs, honey and pasta.

Basement chicken yard

"My girlfriend and I are of the opinion that it cannot be that retailers earn two thirds of food," says Michael Keller.

That is why “Kellers Hühnerhof” in Wegscheid started direct marketing last May.

At the foot of the Brauneck there are fresh eggs and homemade pasta made from spelled or wheat from the machine 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Honey and egg liqueur complete the offer.

“We're also thinking about meat loaf and milk,” says Keller.

The machine is very well received.
