Gabriele Geiger, owner of the “Mode und Betten Weissenbach” shop in Peiting, never hesitated for a moment.

"I am very art-loving myself, so the decision was not difficult for me," she says, explaining her willingness to give local artists a forum for exhibiting their works.

Monika Lehmann is also happy:

Peiting - Until March 14th, the woman from Reichling can present her paintings in the shop windows of the shop at Hauptplatz 6.

This was made possible by the “Window Show” campaign organized by the groups “Peiting hilft” and “Kultur Peiting”, which aims to help local artists in times of the Corona (we reported).

This professional group in particular has to suffer from the strict lockdown requirements: exhibitions open to the public have been put on hold, courses and events are not allowed.

Large paintings can now be admired in the midst of women's lingerie, jeans, trousers and clothes: Lehmann shows expressive nudes there, which with their sensuality and emphasized physicality fit perfectly into the neighboring range.

When looking at her paintings, one almost seems to hear the rustling of the fabric of all the textiles that surround her in a way that is as pleasant as it is unusual.

“A great addition”, as the freelance artist remarks with a smile.

The painter, who won the art award of the city of Weißenburg in Bavaria in 2016, works with acrylic paints, pigments and various stains.

Before she gets to work, she tinkers intensively on drafts and concepts.

But Lehmann also wants to help coincidence: “It is precisely the uncontrolled gestural brushstrokes, the splashes of paint, drops and running marks that fascinate me,” says the native of Mecklenburg.

Lehmann, who sees herself as an autodidact, can look back on a broad artistic career: After training in technical product design and as a technical editor, she studied painting and drawing as a part-time job at a remote academy for two years.

Study trips took her to Africa and Asia as well as to the renowned studios in the Italian city of Civitella d'Agliano.

She was fortunate to be able to present her works in numerous galleries, including in her home region in the Landsberg area, but also in Munich, Traunstein, in the Allgäu and on Lake Ammer.

Anyone who is interested in Monika Lehmann's art or wants to buy one of her paintings is warmly welcome at "Mode und Betten Weissenbach".
