Human rights and political circles criticized the US President Joe Biden's administration not taking any measures against the crown prince of the Saudi regime, Mohammed bin Salman, despite Washington's publication yesterday of a report by the CIA stating that the latter gave approval for the assassination of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi in his country's consulate in Istanbul in 2018.

"AFP" agency said in a report today that Washington's failure to take any measures against bin Salman has caused disappointment among human rights defenders, as an analyst at the Institute for Defense of Democracies in Washington, Farsha Kodofior, said, "This is not the blow that many hoped for. Against Saudi Arabia ”.

Yesterday, the Biden administration issued a declassified copy of a US intelligence report on Khashoggi's killing, stating, "We believe that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman approved in 2018 an operation in Istanbul to arrest or kill journalist Jamal Khashoggi."

For its part, the Washington-based Freedom House said it was disappointing that the United States was still not ready to act on its intelligence and impose sanctions on Bin Salman.

The New York-based Human Rights Foundation, which produced a documentary about Khashoggi's murder, indicated that “we expect nothing less than justice for Jamal Khashoggi,” noting that the United States and the European Union should urgently impose sanctions on bin Salman himself.

The US House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi confirmed today, the day after the publication of the report, that the United States should reassess its relations with Saudi Arabia and said: “Democrats in the House of Representatives will present legislation that honors Khashoggi's professional life with sanctions targeting those who commit grave violations against journalists ... and Saudi Arabia needs To know that the world is watching her disturbing actions and we will hold her accountable. ”
