After a rich artistic career, the plastic artist, Dr. Abdel Karim Farag, died at the age of 78, most of which was spent in artistic work and academic teaching as well as artistic research and criticism.
And the plastic artist Faraj, who passed away yesterday evening and mourned by the Union of Syrian Plastic Artists, was born in Sweida in 1943, a graduate of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Engraving from the University of Damascus, who obtained a doctorate in the same specialty from Poland.
The late occupied many scientific positions, including the dean of the Faculties of Fine Arts in Damascus and As-Suwayda, and he also received several local and international awards, including the Order of Merit with the rank of Knight from Poland, in addition to his participation in local and international artistic events.
The late Farag has books taught at the Faculty of Arts, including techniques in engraving, hand-printing, the art of engraving and printing in Europe in the twentieth century, and the whims of Goya, among others.
The works of the late always carried human aspirations for peace and the creation of beauty on earth in a spontaneous and innate manner to formulate color and technology in the service of the idea and to present a new artistic scene away from neutrality and more closely related to the concerns of the homeland and the human being.
The late had his own vision of the impact of the terrorist war on Syria on the Syrian plastic movement, and he mentioned in one of his statements to SANA that determining this effect in a scientific way requires long periods of study and reflection because the Syrian plastic artist has not stopped creativity despite the war, but there have been cases of concern in the plastic vision at Artistic trends, especially among the younger generation.
