After ten months of construction in two sections, the renovation of the underground car park at the Murnau culture and conference center has been completed.
Cost: around 740,000 euros.
The structure erected in 1999, which has since shown massive damage from road salt, can now be completely put into operation again.
The underground car park at the Murnau Culture and Conference Center will be fully usable again from Monday, March 1st.
The renovation costs a total of 740,000 euros.
Mayor Rolf Beuting (ÖDP / Bürgerforum) drew a positive conclusion at the press conference.
Murnau
- From Monday, March 1st, the underground car park at the culture and conference center can no longer only be reached via the entrance at Burggraben, as it has been since last November, but also from Kohlgruber Straße.
All 208 parking spaces can thus be used.
A circumstance that will please both the foreign visitors who want to shop in Murnau and the holders of season tickets.
A satisfied mayor
At a press conference, Mayor Rolf Beuting (ÖDP / Bürgerforum) stated that the project had gone off without any problems worth mentioning.
“We are very satisfied with the contracting company Hydro-Tech from Bobingen.
It means a lot when such large construction projects are carried out without any hassle. ”Both the planner Wilhelm Fischer from Aschheim near Munich and the employees of the municipal works who operate the garage had done a great job.
He also referred to an art project that is to be implemented in the facility together with the Murnau Erlhaus youth center: "The areas of the light shafts are made available to young people."
Damage from salt
Planners informed Fischer about the renovation.
"The road salt that vehicles bring into the garage in winter contains chloride that has penetrated the concrete of the walls and arrows," the engineer told the daily newspaper.
The salt penetrated through the capillary pores up to the steel reinforcement in the concrete and partially damaged it.
Using a spray lance and a high-pressure water jet, the damaged concrete was removed from the entire structure at a pressure of 2000 bar.
When using robots, you even work with 2500 bar. (For comparison: a car tire is usually filled with around 2.0 bar.) While the reinforcements were mostly still intact, according to him, they had to be replaced in a few places before new, fresh concrete was poured into the formwork.
"The coating with which we have sealed the whole thing is very important so that no more chloride-containing water gets into the concrete," emphasized Fischer.
"It was not applied when the garage was built." In the future, he says, it will be important for motorists to detect collision damage to the seal at an early stage, because salt water can penetrate the concrete at these points.
"Then everything starts all over again," warned the engineer.
42 meter long ceiling crack
As plant manager Karl Steingruber explained, a 42-meter-long crack in the ceiling was discovered in the course of the renovation work in the northern area of the garage, through which moisture penetrated.
"It was immediately sealed with acrylate by Hydro-Tech," he said.
"We immediately had the right company on site that could do it professionally." The additional costs of around 15,000 euros are already included in the total amount of 740,000 euros.
