They repeal a law that "prohibited trans women from walking"

In 1976, a law in New York State entered into force that prohibited loitering in the streets for the purpose of prostitution.

Critics called it a "ban on walking as a trans woman" and claimed that the police used the rule to persecute them.

After several years of fighting, LGBTI advocates succeeded in getting Governor Andrew Cuomo to repeal this section of the penal code.
