A fire caused by the explosion of an oxygen line in a hospital this Saturday in Ukraine left one dead and one injured among Covid-19 patients, second such tragedy in a Covid unit in February in this country , announced the emergency services.

The explosion occurred on the first floor of this five-story hospital in the city of Chernivtsi in the southwest, the emergency services said.

An oxygen line exploded and caused the fire,
" killing one and injuring one, they said.
Twenty people were evacuated before the fire which broke out fifteen minutes after the explosion.
Images from the disaster areas showed charred beds and chairs and blackened linen scattered on the floor.
According to the mayor of Chernivtsi Roman Klichuk, the fire broke out in one "
of the units where patients infected with the coronavirus were being treated
".
The injured patient, who has severe burns, is in intensive care.

" to save him, added the mayor.

In early February, a young doctor and three patients died in a fire in the intensive care unit for Covid-19 patients at a hospital in Zaporizhjia, in southwestern Ukraine.
In January, a fire killed 16 people in an undeclared retirement home in Kharkiv, in the east of the country.
