The weather in Germany is going crazy these days.

Temperature records, persistent warmth - February is everything, but not normal.

The March and April forecasts are therefore likely to come as a surprise.

Update from February 27, 10.12 a.m.:

In the last few days, Germans have enjoyed pleasantly warm and sunny spring days.

But current weather forecasts show that it is over for now.

The temperatures on the thermometer will climb significantly down again in the next few days.

Weather in Germany: After the onset of spring, it gets cold again - permafrost

The weekend starts on Saturday cloudy and partly cloudy.

It is also getting colder - with maximum values of seven to 13 degrees, in the higher mountains even with only four degrees.

This is reported by the German Weather Service (DWD).

It remains frosty in the night on Sunday, here the DWD predicts up to minus four degrees.

The weather is similarly wintry on Sunday.

After the fog has cleared, however, the sun fights its way in southern Germany.

Nevertheless, the maximum values are again between six and 13 degrees.

There will be a significant drop in temperature - including permafrost - at the start of the new week.

Once the thick fog has cleared, it will not get warmer than 0 to -5 degrees in the south and southeast.

Occasionally there is sunshine during the day - in some places the thermometer should then rise slightly into the plus range, at up to four degrees.

Weather in Germany: After a record temperature - it's getting wintry again

Munich - For six days in a row there were temperatures of over 20 degrees in Germany - in February.

"A record which, in terms of climatological classification, is comparable to the series of days with more than 40 degrees in summer 2019," said the

German Weather Service

.

So far, this was three 20-degree days in February and comes from the year 2019. In Munich, too, the thermometer shot up all week, and even if no records were recorded, the Isar metropolis is also the same weather not common *.

For Munich residents, and also in the rest of Germany, a cooler phase is now beginning.

And a look at the long-term forecasts for March and April shows that the “turbo spring” will probably not continue significantly.

Weather hammer: after abnormal temperatures - permafrost returns to Germany

The abnormal spring weather that has ruled Germany in the past few days is now coming to an end.

In Munich *, on Saturday, February 17, it will rain.

At the weekend the temperatures drop to a maximum of 9 degrees.

At night, the values then drop to minus two degrees - compared to the current values, in fact, a sharp decrease.

Then, at the beginning of the week, the weather portal wetter.com sneaks up to another "heat mountain", the temperatures then reach values of up to 15 degrees again.

But already at the end of next week, from Thursday, March 4th, the big surprise will follow.

As meteorologist Jan Schenk from “The Weather Channel Deutschland” predicts, winter will return to Germany.

Accordingly, “arctic air” is once again making its way to Germany.

This means permafrost and temperatures of up to minus five degrees - during the day.

Other models also show that more snow is on the horizon in Germany.

This means that the turbo spring in the country will finally come to an end at the end of next week.

Weather: Long-term forecast - will March and April surprise?

Expert clarifies

But what's next in March?

And what does April bring?

First long-term forecasts allow a look at trends.

Meteorologist Dominik Jung took a look at them.

It should come as a surprise that both months - as of now - do not seem to have any drastic anomalies ready.

In terms of both temperatures and dryness, the runs show rather “normal” values.

"There is nothing dramatic to see at first," says Jung when looking at the long-term forecast for March 2021. Accordingly, there are no major temperature deviations upwards or downwards.

Even in April, when the long-term forecast is less accurate because of the time, Jung explains that no major deviations can be seen.
