According to El País, the four million euros in taxes paid in arrears are, among other things, arrears payments for undeclared flights that a private jet company made possible for the 83-year-old free of charge until 2018.
According to the new reports, businessmen and nobles have made loans to the former monarch.
Some of these were notarized.
Suspected tax fraud and money laundering
Juan Carlos left his home country more than six months ago after allegations of corruption rose and the judiciary opened an investigation.
The Supreme Court launched an investigation into the ex-head of state in June on suspicion of tax fraud and money laundering.
For the four decades in which he was king, Juan Carlos enjoyed immunity.
However, the Supreme Court could put him in the dock for any offenses following his abdication in June 2014.
Criticism from home
At home, Juan Carlos is criticized.
Son and successor Felipe has already withdrawn his compensation of 200,000 euros from Juan Carlos, the opponents of the monarchy see themselves on the upswing.
Left minister Alberto Garzón wrote on Twitter on Friday about dark and illegal financial movements.
The ease with which millions and millions of euros are moved and hidden is astonishing.
Vice-president and Podemos boss Pablo Iglesias retweeted Garzón's post.
