The Société du Grand Paris has awarded the public contract for the construction of the last section of line 16 of the supermetro between Chelles and the

The last section of line 16 of the Grand Paris Express (GPE) is due to be completed in 2028. This was announced by the Société du Grand Paris (SGP), which this week awarded the third and final civil engineering contract for the construction of the section between Clichy-Montfermeil station (Seine-Saint-Denis) and the rear station of Noisy-Champs, in Champs-sur-Marne.

The group of companies made up of Razel-Bec (agent), Sefi-Intrafor and Fayat Metal won the call for tenders for this public contract, for an amount of 325 million euros ( duty free).

It includes the construction of the 5.5 km tunnel, the construction of the future Chelles station and six service structures.

The works will start in September 2021.

The mayors of Chelles and Champs-sur-Marne satisfied

“I am delighted with the announcement of the recent signing of public contracts for section 3 of line 16 of the Grand Paris Express.

Everything is now underway to meet the objective of improved commissioning at 2028 and not 2030 as initially envisaged ”, enthuses Brice Rabaste (LR), the mayor of Chelles.

The latter was present this Thursday, at the launch of the eighth tunnel boring machine, called "Mireille".

Bravo to the teams involved in this operation.

I am delighted with the progress of such a large-scale project for @VilleChelles and for the @iledefrance Region.

The chief magistrate recalls that “these two years gained are the result of a strong mobilization, with a first meeting in October 2018 in the town hall of Chelles, between Thierry Dallard, then president of the Société du Grand Paris, the mayors and the president of the Paris Vallée de la Marne urban community (PVM) for the route of line 16, which marked the start of a constructive dialogue with the SGP.

"I learned to be careful in the face of triumphalist announcements"

If the mayor of Champs-sur-Marne, Maud Tallet (PCF) is also satisfied with the progress of the calendar, it remains more measured: “This last extension makes it possible to complete line 16 and give consistency to the whole.

Most of our inhabitants work in the west and therefore rather wait for line 15, but line 16 should make it possible to connect the inhabitants of the north-east of Paris to our territory, where the university is located in particular.

"

“I've learned to be careful with triumphant announcements about GPE lines,” she continues.

The inhabitants have already suffered the inconvenience of the works on line 15 for several years, so this is not a resounding victory.

Line 16 will pass entirely underground at Champs-sur-Marne so it should not generate any disruption but we will remain extremely attentive to truck traffic.
