Bobigny: veterans victims of repeated vandalism

2021-02-28T06:10:36.612Z

On five occasions, intruders ransacked the premises of Fnaca. The president is distraught and the deputy calls for better protection

But who blames the former Fnaca fighters?

In recent years, the departmental premises of the National Federation of Veterans in Bobigny (Seine-Saint-Denis) have been vandalized no less than five times.

Last mischief to date, on February 4, intruders passed through the basement.

They did not go dead hand because to enter the floor where the Fnaca sits, they smashed down a concrete block wall and blew up a wall.

Once there, they turned everything upside down.

"It's pure vandalism," said Jean Beckrich, vice-president of the association.

Everything was turned upside down, the cabinets were overturned, the windows smashed and the safe was cut out with a grinder.

Why so much hatred?

asks Jean Beckrich.

“We don't know who can blame us.

We have never had an altercation with anyone, ”he slips disillusioned.

Because in this building which has two other associations, it is always Fnaca that is targeted.

The cinder block wall was broken down.

In 2018, the locals suffered the same fate.

The place had been literally ransacked by devious enemies.

And are they the same who reoffended in February?

“At the time, they took away the bottles of Ricard and whiskey.

But this time, they only took the brand new coffee maker.

They did not touch the 25 euros we had left, nor the bottles of alcohol.

In the safe, there was no hard change, just diplomas of honor and medals of little material value.

"It wears us out morally, especially since these acts of vandalism are added to the many deaths of our members because of the Covid", specifies the saddened vice-president.

But he adds, combative: "We are not going to let ourselves be defeated".

MP calls for enhanced surveillance

The association with 2,650 members lodged a complaint.

She was able to count on the support of Jean-Christophe Lagarde, UDI deputy.

In letters sent to the prefect, the commissioner and the mayor of Bobigny, he asks to take matters in hand and to ensure that the premises benefit from reinforced surveillance.

"If these facts are normally unacceptable, they are all the more so when they affect those who, through their commitment, help to maintain the duty of memory and to share the values of those who have defended our nation, writes the chosen one.

The State has an increased duty of protection towards the women and men who fought for it.
