In view of the increase in the coefficient of infection and the crowds on Purim, the experts express concern about recurrence • Along with those concerned, Prof. Granot claims: "The public is beginning to develop resistance to the virus"

Against the background of the increase in the coefficient of infection and the mass parties that took place on Purim, there is concern that Israel is facing another widespread corona disease.

At "Israel Today" we turned to experts in the field in an attempt to understand whether we should continue with relief, whether we will be in another closure ahead of Passover and what should be done now?

One thing is for sure - most of them believe that the education system should be opened up.

Professor Gabi Barbash, former director general of the Ministry of Education and director of Ichilov Hospital, said that the relief should be stopped to see the actual effect of the vaccines and see if there are many new patients in critical condition. "We should wait a few days with the relief and see what effect the parties So far, the state of morbidity in Israel, "he told Israel Today." This will allow decision-makers to understand whether to continue with relief or to think in a different direction.

We have to wait a bit to understand what the trend is and what its impact is on the health system and then decide on the issue. "

Professor Dror Mevorach, director of the corona department at Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem, notes that according to the situation in the department, there is indeed a halt to the decline in morbidity.

"We currently have 90 hospitalized patients, 61 of them in critical condition. This is a change in trend and halting the decline in morbidity. At the moment, it requires caution and rethinking the continuation of the relief. "

"Stop the rest of the facilitation, open education"

Prof. Nadav Davidovich, head of the Public Health School at Ben-Gurion University and a member of the government advisory team, believes that one should think about how to manage a routine in a reality where there is still an increase in morbidity.

"It requires calling people to keep getting vaccinated and explaining the importance of it. Of course you have to decide what is critical and what can be rejected. In this respect I think the main point should be the education system, which should be opened up despite the increase in infection."

As for the other reliefs, Davidovich believes they should be stopped for now.

Prof. Ronit Calderon-Margalit of the Hebrew University School of Public Health also claims that the situation requires a halt to all reliefs, except for the opening of the education system. "The infection rate is rising, and although there are currently no serious patients, it is something that comes after a while.

At the moment we do not yet see the effect of Purim parties, it will be seen later, "says Calderon-Margalit.

According to her, there is one area that simply must not be stopped and that is the education system.

"The damage to the students is terrible. If they do not return to school now, the Passover holiday will already come and then the whole year will end. This is a serious blow to students who have not seen a framework for a whole year in Israel."

"The coefficient of infection increases, but the condition can be contained"

Prof. Zvika Granot, from the Faculty of Medicine at the Hebrew University, believes that the public in Israel is currently beginning to develop resistance to the virus.

According to him, the corona will become another of the diseases that people contract but continue to live.

"First, the quarantine no longer works. People are told quarantine at night so they do a party during the day. Beyond that, although the coefficient of infection has gone up but the morbidity does not go up at the same time. "People are sick but not coming to the hospital. We are alive, and the disease is here and we have vaccines and tools to reduce its damage."
