It seems that the school year will be extended at all ages, until the end of July.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will deliver a statement in the evening (Sunday) regarding the future of the education system.
Teachers 'organizations and the national parents' leadership were also invited to the press conference.
Apparently, the decision will be to extend the current school year (2007/08) for all age groups until the end of July due to the enormous damage the corona has caused to the education system.
This year, Education Minister Yoav Galant announced that the schools of great freedom that have been practiced in recent years will be "teaching schools" instead of activities that were previously concentrated on school breaks - due to the huge gaps and sensitive problems that students face due to the many closures.
Finance Minister Israel Katz is also expected to be present at the press conference tonight - this is due to the fact that leaving the education system working during the summer months is expected to cost the economy a huge amount of money.
It is estimated that teachers' organizations will not agree to operate the education frameworks without compensation and will certainly not force teachers to work in them - rather it will be on a voluntary basis.
To the budget of the education system of about NIS 53 billion, another NIS 4.2 billion was added this year for the benefit of the corona.
NIS 1.2 billion has been invested in reducing technological gaps such as purchasing computers, training teachers and turning schools into e-learning.
Another NIS 2.6 billion was invested in recruiting culprits and expanding existing jobs of teaching staff for the benefit of the third- and fourth-grade capsules.
Millions more shekels have been invested in protection and hygiene in schools - but even these have not been able to sustain studies in a reasonable way, the frustration of the parents is growing and the fear is of a lost year in the education system.
