At least 18 protesters were killed today (Sunday) in clashes with Myanmar security forces, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights said in a statement: The



deadly clashes took place in the cities of Yangon, Mandalay and Dawi, and the UN said dozens more protesters had been injured.

Security forces used live fire, rubber bullets and tear gas, after several weeks of peaceful protest.

Hundreds of thousands have taken to the streets since the military overthrew leader Aung San Suu Kyi and her government, and they have not been seen since.

Su Chi, the bride of the Nobel Peace Prize, was taken a few days ago from a dormitory in the capital to an unknown location.
