The municipality of Eching was able to achieve a precision landing with the expected costs for the reconstruction of the SCE tennis hall, which burned down on May 13, 2018.

"The total prices achieved in the award procedure correspond exactly to the estimated costs with a deviation of only 0.5 percent, so that the reconstruction can be carried out as planned thanks to the fire insurance service," informed Mayor Sebastian Thaler.

In a public session, after the civil engineering and foundation work that had already started, the municipal council approved the further award of a total of seven tendered trades for sewer, electrical, ventilation, plumber / roofer, plumbing, heating, wood construction, scaffolding and drywall work a total volume of a good 2.7 million euros.

The deviations or “swings” went roughly equally well into plus or minus.

Most savings are made in sewer work

The greatest percentage savings of over 20 percent resulted from the sewer work, which will cost almost 100,000 euros and is therefore around 25,000 euros cheaper than expected.

There are further savings with comparable sums at the contracted craftsmen for plumbing and heating, for roofers and plumbers.

At over 17 percent, the costs for the ventilation work are well above the forecast, with a total of almost 122,000 euros (with an additional expenditure of 18,000 euros).

The highest additional expenditure - in absolute terms - of 65,000 euros is for the timber construction, scaffolding and drywall construction work in the hall, which at 1.3 million euros makes up around 50 percent of the total package awarded.

The increase is around five percent.

Impact on the environment is an issue

As already decided by the municipal council in the previous year, the decisions taken also include the effects on the environment and climate.

In the case of construction projects, of course, the materials used are primarily on the test bench.

A wooden building like the tennis hall does naturally well because it is built from renewable raw materials.

Modern, energy-saving LED lights are used to illuminate the tennis hall and functional building.

The building also makes a sustainable contribution with regard to renewable energies - because the BEG (Citizens Energy Cooperative) Freisinger Land will be installing a photovoltaic system on the roof.

With around 400kWp, the then largest of the four photovoltaic systems on communal roof areas will generate solar power for around 150 households.

By the way: The citizens of Echingen are preferably authorized to sign when they participate financially in the cooperative.

If everything goes according to plan, it should be possible to use the tennis hall again in winter 2021/22.

The completion of the sanitary facilities, gymnastics hall and apartments is scheduled for 2022.
