Validity of meal vouchers extended, compensation for partial unemployment finally unchanged ... The month of March was accompanied by several changes. Here's what to remember.


Mandatory PCR tests in Moselle at the Franco-German border

From March 1, France is requesting PCR tests of less than 72 hours for non-professional cross-border travel between Germany and the Moselle department.

This department is one of the most affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

For cross-border workers, weekly tests will be set up at the border, announced the Minister of Health Olivier Véran and the Secretary of State for European Affairs Clément Beaune a few days ago.

No change for partial unemployment

If the government had a time announced new rules for partial unemployment from March 1, compensation ultimately remains unchanged until the end of the month.

Short-time workers will therefore remain compensated up to 70% of their gross salary (84% net) with a remainder of 15% for companies.

The validity of 2020 meal vouchers extended again

Don't panic if you have 2020 meal vouchers in your wallet.

Their validity was extended until August 31, 2021 due to the health crisis, after having been extended until the end of February.

Meal vouchers can be used for take-out meals and for deliveries.

The use of tickets is limited to a maximum amount of 38 euros per day, and are valid on Sundays and public holidays, but only in restaurants and not in supermarkets.

New energy label for household appliances

From March 1, a new version of the energy label is appearing for certain household appliance products.

Four categories of products are concerned: refrigerators, freezers and wine storage appliances, dishwashers, washing machines and washer-dryers, as well as televisions and screens.

For bulbs and LEDs, the new label will come into force on September 1, 2021. Classes A +, A ++ and A +++ disappear in favor of a scale from A to G. No product currently on the market will be classified A on this new scale, a warned the Environment and Energy Management Agency (Ademe).

30,000 internship proposals for young people

As of March 1, some 30,000 internship proposals for young people will be posted on the government platform 1jeune1solution.

The platform already has around 100,000 job offers.

Deadline for publishing the gender equality index

This Monday, March 1 is the last deadline for the publication of the index of professional equality between women and men of companies with at least 50 employees.

This index, calculated using the simulator-calculator, must be declared to the labor inspectorate on the dedicated site and must also appear on the company's website.

It allows the level of equality between men and women to be assessed on 100 points.

The index includes in particular the pay gap between women and men, the difference in the rate of individual increases, the number of employees increased on their return from maternity leave, parity among the 10 highest paid and the difference in the promotion rate (only for companies with more than 250 employees).

Minor evolution of tobacco prices

Some minor changes are to be expected in the price of certain packs of cigarettes.

The price of certain packages of Gauloises will notably decrease.

On the other hand, the prices of cigars and cigarillos, including those of the Davidoff and Coprova brands, will increase.

Increase in regulated gas prices

The regulated natural gas tariffs applied by Engie increased on average by 5.7% in March.

In detail, the price increases by 1.5% for homes that use gas for cooking, by 3.4% for those using it for cooking and hot water, and by 5.9% for customers who heat with gas.

According to the Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE), this increase is due, among other things, to the rise in “market prices”, which were “supported this winter by strong global demand, in particular due to the cold snap. on the Asian continent ”.

Regulated gas sales prices for individuals will disappear on July 1, 2023.
