Yesterday (27th) a 29-year-old man reported that he had received a bank phone SMS saying that his account settings were abnormal and he needed to click on the designated link to reset his bank account.

The man clicked on the link without fear of fraud and entered the account information according to the instructions. However, he later received an account withdrawal notice stating that his account had been withdrawn a total of about 130,000 yuan. He suspected of being deceived and called the police.

After preliminary investigation by the police, the case was classified as obtaining property by deception and was handed over to Sham Shui Po Police District Criminal Investigation Team 2 for follow-up. No one has been arrested yet.

If citizens receive a bank SMS requesting to provide any personal information, they should call the relevant bank to identify the authenticity of the message; if in doubt, they can call the Anti-Fraud Coordination Center 24-hour hotline 18222 for enquiries, or call 999 for help.
