Gabi Fastner was constantly on the move due to her job.

Since the lockdown, however, lectures or filming for new Tele-Gym episodes are no longer possible.

In an interview, she reveals how the 48-year-old deals with it, why she doesn't miss the many trips that much and what the Tölzerin is looking forward to after the lockdown.

Ms. Fastner, you are self-employed, you give a lot of lectures and otherwise live a lot from personal contacts.

How hard has the pandemic hit you professionally?

At the beginning the lockdown was a shock, all face-to-face events as a lecturer such as courses, training courses, lectures, advanced training courses, trade fairs and my practical lessons were canceled.

But within a few weeks, a new everyday working life has established itself.

What does this new everyday life look like?

Before the lockdown, I was out every week, mainly in German-speaking countries.

These trips were of course completely eliminated.

So on March 13, 2020, I sat on a train for the last time.

I am now working more and more from home on new training programs, making gymnastics DVDs and am currently also writing two new books, both on the subject of “fitness and health”.

Has a lot shifted to the internet?

Yes very much.

I shoot a lot of motion videos for companies, for example for Magenta TV from Telekom.

Also for online congresses and online training courses.

Of course, I continue to shoot videos for my own YouTube channel.

Has the audience increased since the gyms and sports clubs closed?

Since the lockdown, the number of viewers on my YouTube channel has increased significantly.

Of course, people use the range of exercise at home, as many are in the home office or are stuck in quarantine at home or in the hotel room in order to stay fit and healthy.

Do you think it is right that fitness studios should have good hygiene concepts and ventilation systems in spite of them?

Sport is of course extremely important for the immune system!

Unfortunately, I cannot assess whether it really makes sense to close studios and clubs, despite a good hygiene concept and ventilation systems.

How do you stay fit?

With my own gymnastics (laughs) and with regular, long walks with my dog.

Do you have any tips for readers on how to stay fit in everyday life?

The best thing to do is to keep everyday life moving, you can really do a lot from home.

And exercise in the fresh air should of course not be neglected.

What is your personal conclusion of the last year under the sign of Corona?

I try to make the best of it and stay positive.

In retrospect, I notice how exhausting all the traveling was and how much of it works well online.

What do you look forward to most when the lockdown is over?

I love going out to dinner with friends!
