The Supreme Court today (Sunday) approved Abtissam Maraana-Menuhin, who is ranked seventh on the Labor list, to run in the Knesset elections.

In doing so, the court reversed the decision of the Election Commission, which two weeks ago voted to disqualify it from running.

Eight of the judges supported Maraana-Menuhin's candidacy in the election, while a single judge, David Mintz, thought she should be disqualified.

The judges who supported the approval of her candidacy were President Esther Hayut and Justices Neil Handel, Yitzhak Amit, Noam Solberg, Dafna Barak-Erez, Menachem Mazuz, Anat Baron and George Kara.

Last week, the High Court discussed the question of whether Mara'ana-Menuhin apologized for what she said in an interview with "HaMoshavot" magazine, and whether she withdrew from them. Oppose.

The disqualification applications were submitted to the committee by a Jewish power list and Maozia Segal, who was severely wounded among the Chinese farm.

"Unsurprisingly, I apologize for anything that might have sounded racist, inciting, disliking, not sympathetic," Mara'a said at the time.

"I have never incited against anyone. I have been married for years to a Jew named Boaz. A stunning guy, and we are raising our 6-year-old daughter together. She is one hundred percent Jewish and one hundred percent Arab."

Maraana-Menuhin referred to an interview she gave to reporter Yoav Itiel (now a Walla! NEWS reporter) in "HaMoshavot Magazine" and said that "in 2008 I just buried my father. A journalist came, nice, experienced in interviews. What to do, I can be wrong in my language. I "I did not call for the destruction of Zichron Yaacov. Zichron and Paradise are places that cannot be separated. This is our existence. Geographically, morally, socially."

Maraana earlier this month expressed remorse for the post she wrote in 2013, in which she said she did not stand by the siren on Memorial Day.

In an interview with News 12, Maraana said that "I stand by the siren when I'm out. I'm sorry it (the post) hurts every heart of a mother or father or brother or sister who lost his son."

She added that "this is a very old and miserable status. Today, if I had rewritten it, rewritten it, I would not have written it at all."

Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit said before the election committee hearing that he believes that Maraana-Menuhin's candidacy should not be rejected.

"In the Attorney General's position, in light of the Supreme Court's ruling regarding the criteria for disqualification of candidates, the limited evidence presented in the two applications for disqualification of the respondent's Knesset candidacy, most of which does not substantiate any of the three grounds for disqualification," Mandelblit said.

"(He) does not establish an evidentiary basis for accepting the applications for disqualification, and certainly no" critical evidentiary mass "of unequivocal, clear and convincing evidence has accumulated in relation to one of the at least three grounds for disqualification, which is required by the Supreme Court ruling to disqualify a candidate.
