The former US president will speak before the annual Conservative convention, where he will declare that he is still the most dominant force in the Republican Party. He will sharply attack Biden, but it is not yet clear if he will announce his political intentions.

Former United States President Donald Trump will deliver his first speech tonight (Sunday) since the end of his term a month and a half ago, and he may announce his intention to be in the 2024 race.

He will appear at the annual Conservative Conference (CPAC) in Orlando, Florida, which opened last week and was a sign of almost complete loyalty to the controversial leader - including the presentation of a golden statue of him.

"I stand before you today to announce that the amazing journey we began together four years ago is far from over," Trump is expected to say, according to excerpts from the speech released by his team.

"We gathered here this afternoon to talk about the future - the future of our movement, the future of our party, and the future of our beloved country."

He is expected to argue that the Republican Party is still united, except for a dispute with the "elite in Washington," referring to the few Republicans who supported the impeachment process in Congress against him following his supporters' onslaught on Capitol Hill earlier last month.

Trump will devote significant parts of his speech to attacking his successor, Democratic President Joe Biden, whom he has yet to officially recognize in his November election victory.

The White House has made it clear that it does not intend to comment on Trump's speech.

"Of course we are not focusing on what President Trump is saying," White House spokeswoman Jen Saki said over the weekend.
